What is NHBC?
NHBC is the standard setting body and leading warranty and insurance provider for new and newly converted homes in the UK. Providing risk management services to the house-building and wider contruction industry, NHBC has a number of registered builders who agree to comply with their Rules and Standards.
NHBC registers around 85% of new homes in the UK and around 1.6 million homeowners are currently benefiting from their 10-year warranty and insurance cover. NHBC has protected over 30% of the existing homes in the UK.
Established over 65 years ago as a non-profit distributing company, NHBC's primary purpose is to help raise standards in the new house-building industry and provide consumer protection for new homeowners.

NHBC's main customers are homebuyers and registered house builders. NHBC provides buyers of new homes with a 10 year 'Buildmark' warranty and insurance protection, and their comprehensive range of products and services assists registered builders improve the quality of new homes.

NHBC is internationally recognised as an example of best practice. Representatives from across the world visit NHBC for advice and information. They have recently received contacts from Australia, Israel, South Africa, Japan, and Spain.
NHBC also has an influential voice in Europe, contributing to AEHWO (Association of European Home Warranty Organisations), the European Committee for Standardisation, the Consortium for European building Control, and the European Organisation for Technical Approvals.
Socially Responsible
NHBC promotes sustainability and best practice in areas such as Building Regulations, contaminated land and innovation in construction. They are committed to continued social engagement with staff and the communities they serve. For example NHBC sponsors the National Youthbuild Awards, which tackle social exclusion and offer young people opportunities to develop skills and personal responsibility.
